Sam is currently showing a group of great new work at Claire Oliver, which closes April 12. Go see it. We are going to do an interview in the not too distant future. I'll post an update when that happens...

  3. Thanks for the interest in the work. The shaped paintings came about mainly as a result of the natural progression of the compositions.
    I started thinking about the possibilities of shaped work around the time of my mfa project where I cut out individual characters from wood for an installation. Also, around the same time I was working for F. Stella helping construct shaped panels to help mount large collages.

  5. I think Faunce's work is fantastic. I first saw his work back in 2005 when someone else actually told me I should go see his show because of the connection to the symmetrical paintings that I was doing.
